This research area examines the ways artworks have been gathered, observed, and debated throughout history and today. While museum evolution and collecting practices in both public and private spheres receive significant focus, equally crucial is studying how art is exhibited and how shifting temporal perspectives influence its contemporary significance. Revival movements play a key role in understanding how artworks cycle through periods of popularity and scholarly attention. Although much of the group's academic work centers on European and North American contexts, the impact of imperialism and cross-cultural interactions forms a vital component. This encompasses exchanges between Eastern and Western traditions, as well as societal and individual perceptions of foreign cultures.
