Course overviewThis program combines a 12-month Foundation Training placement during your fifth year. You'll be paired with high-quality placement opportunities aligned with your career goals. After completing 39 weeks (out of the 52-week training), you'll qualify to take the GPhC Registration Assessment. Upon graduation and passing this assessment, you can apply to the GPhC for full pharmacist registration.The GPhC will evaluate your degree, training, and professional fitness before you begin practicing as a pharmacist.Our current students have helped redesign our teaching methods to enhance future learning experiences. We blend professional practice, medication prescribing, and patient care skills across therapeutic areas.Develop patient assessment, communication, and treatment techniques (using professional actors). Practice interprofessional communication in our dedicated Professional Development Suite.Acquire hands-on experience through placements in community pharmacies, GP practices, and hospital settings. You'll refine your ability to guide both patients and healthcare providers on proper medication use.Manage your own simulated pharmacy in a realistic commercial and clinical setting. Practice medication dispensing, patient consultations, and prescription management.Study abroad options include destinations like Malaysia, Canada, and Australia for research projects. A level – AAB; Required subjects - AAB, including chemistry and at least one further science A level from biology, maths or physics. A pass in the practical element of science subjects is required if assessed separately. The third A level can be any subject apart from general studies, critical thinking, citizenship studies, global perspectives and research or thinking skills which are not accepted. GCSEs - Maths 5 (B) or above; English 5 (B) or above. Excluded subjects - General studies, critical thinking, citizenship studies, global perspectives and research, thinking skills. IB score - 32 points overall or 665 in 3 HL certificates. IB requirements - HL6, HL5 in Chemistry and a second science. RQF BTEC Nationals - RQF Level 3 BTEC National Extended Diploma Applied Science DDD; RQF Level 3 BTEC National Extended Diploma Applied Science (Biomedical Science) DDD. Other applications are assessed on an individual basis to ensure sufficient science content has been studied. We will consider the following: RQF Level 3 BTEC National Extended Diploma DDD; RQF Level 3 BTEC National Diploma DD + A level grade A; RQF Level 3 BTEC National Extended Certificate D + A level grades AB. The required A levels for mixed BTEC and A level grade profiles depends on the science content studied in the BTEC. Access to HE Diploma - Applications are assessed on an individual basis. Where an offer is made, our standard requirements are: Access to HE Diploma 30 graded Level 3 credits at Distinction (including 15 credits from acceptable chemistry units plus 15 credits from maths, biology or physics units), plus 15 graded Level 3 credits at Merit. IELTS - 7.0 (with a minimum of 6.0 in each element), TOEFL (iBT) - 100 (minimum 19 in writing and listening, 20 in reading and 22 in speaking).
