This program offers the chance to blend your creativity, mathematical abilities, and specialized expertise to enhance modern industrial systems. Mechanical engineering is crucial across diverse sectors like aerospace, production, healthcare, clean energy, and motorsports. Nearly every aspect of contemporary life benefits from mechanical engineering breakthroughs, whether it's transportation systems or food production methods. Alongside classroom instruction, you'll utilize cutting-edge research labs featuring advanced robotics and additive manufacturing technologies. Your learning will extend to practical applications through both solo and collaborative projects. The curriculum begins with two foundational years shared between mechanical and manufacturing engineering, covering core engineering principles. Specialization in mechanical engineering occurs during the third year. This five-year program includes an optional industrial placement in year four. Career prospects: You'll acquire comprehensive engineering knowledge and design capabilities - key qualifications for mechanical engineering roles. Through project-based learning, you'll hone problem-solving skills and understand the commercial context of engineering work. Our alumni have secured positions with leading organizations such as: Jaguar Land Rover, Tata Steel, Procter & Gamble, Rolls-Royce, Ford, and Thales.

Required subjects
A in Maths and either Physics (preferred) or Further Maths as a 2nd subject, or Maths with any two of the following: Chemistry, Biology, Design, Economics, Psychology, Electronics, Computer Science.
For applicants predicted A*AA including A in maths but not offering the subject combinations above - A*AA including Maths and at least one of Chemistry, Biology, Electronics or Design.
GCSE English grade 4 (C).
Excluded subjects
General Studies, Critical Thinking, Citizenship Studies, CIE Global Perspectives and Research, CIE Thinking Skills.
IB score
36 Points overall or 766 in 3 Higher Level Certificates
IB requirements
One of HL6 in Mathematics: Analysis and Approaches, HL6 in Mathematics: Applications and Interpretation or SL7 in Mathematics: Analysis and Approaches plus HL6 in Physics or SL7 in Physics. Mathematics: Applications and Interpretation is not accepted at Standard Level.
BTEC Nationals
Where an offer is made, our standard requirements are:
BTEC National Extended Certificate and A Levels – D with A*A in A Level Maths, and Physics or Further Maths
BTEC Subsidiary Diploma and A Levels – D combined with A*A in A Level Maths, and Physics or Further Maths.
IELTS (Academic): 6.0 (with a minimum of 5.5 in each element)
TOEFL (iBT): 80 (with a minimum of 17 in writing and listening, 18 in reading and 20 in speaking)
