Our program integrates the study of ancient Greek and Roman literature, history, art, and culture with English language, literature, and drama spanning from Old English to contemporary works. You'll examine various facets of classical civilization through diverse modules covering topics like the Aeneid, ancient novels, religious practices, societal violence, comedic traditions, animal symbolism, civic life, as well as modern cinematic and theatrical adaptations of classical works.
This course offers optional instruction in ancient Greek or Latin at all proficiency levels. Learning these classical languages enhances your understanding of translated texts through direct engagement with original sources while developing valuable linguistic analysis and communication skills sought by employers.
For the English component, you'll select from modules in applied linguistics, dramatic arts, medieval literature and language studies, and post-1500 literary works, engaging with novels, poetry, and theatrical productions across different historical periods.
