The Sport Coaching BSc (Hons) program equips students with both practical coaching abilities and theoretical knowledge. Our curriculum examines how coaching methods, techniques, and interactions with athletes play crucial roles. You'll learn how sports science principles can enhance athlete progression over time while strengthening coach-athlete bonds.
This degree cultivates essential competencies including strategic planning, self-evaluation, assessing athlete requirements, and applying teaching methods across various sports settings. Effective coaches must consider multiple dimensions - physical, technical, mental, and social aspects - that contribute to an athlete's growth. As students advance, they can choose specialized modules to refine their coaching expertise for either recreational or competitive environments.
Additional course components cover team dynamics, leadership approaches, performance settings, and collaboration within sports support teams. The program features a performance analysis component where students hone their observational and data interpretation skills, working with real-world data from our partners at Northampton Saints.
Students may opt for a placement year during their studies.
