The engineering field is constantly progressing, requiring professionals with diverse expertise and capabilities. The University of Northampton's Engineering BSc (Hons) program equips students with essential foundations, core principles, and industry-relevant competencies for contemporary engineering careers. Our faculty brings extensive real-world experience and employs cutting-edge educational technologies.
In the initial year of the Engineering BSc (Hons) program, students explore fundamental engineering concepts, technical specifications, and management considerations. The curriculum also encompasses design methodologies, analytical approaches, and materials science fundamentals.
During the second year, engineering students may pursue an optional industry placement through various avenues: with their current employer, through self-sourced opportunities, or via competitive paid positions offered through the Northants Engineering Training Partnership (NETP).
The program's second year advances students' understanding of more sophisticated engineering challenges. We strongly advocate for practical industry experience, enabling students to collaborate with seasoned professionals on authentic engineering problems. Our team maintains close collaboration with partner organizations to ensure optimal learning conditions. This hands-on approach enhances problem-solving abilities and analytical thinking while providing exposure to state-of-the-art computer-aided engineering tools.
