Our PhD/MPhil Stem Cell Research program allows you to pursue a research initiative aimed at advancing knowledge in Stem Cell Research. This field is part of our dynamic Manchester Regenerative Medicine Network (MaRMN), which brings together researchers and clinicians from the University and nearby hospitals committed to conducting groundbreaking studies on tissue regeneration, repair, and novel therapeutic development. Stem cell biology plays a pivotal role in this domain. MaRMN strives to bridge the gap between laboratory research and clinical applications in regenerative medicine and stem cell science. Experts in tissue regeneration are pioneering biological methods using living cells to restore impaired or diseased tissues. This highly collaborative research area integrates the expertise of cell, molecular, and matrix biologists with specialists in materials science, engineering, and physical sciences at the University, alongside NHS clinicians and surgeons. MaRMN researchers are exploring fundamental cellular processes that determine cell behavior and developing therapeutic strategies to utilize cells for tissue replacement (with ongoing pre-clinical and clinical trials). MaRMN leverages interdisciplinary excellence in stem and progenitor cell research alongside gene therapy advancements.
