Our PhD/MPhil Audiology program offers the opportunity to conduct groundbreaking research that advances knowledge in Audiology. Pursuing postgraduate research in audiology is both demanding and fulfilling. Our audiology studies are conducted through the Division for Human Communication, Development and Hearing, part of the globally recognized Manchester Centre for Audiology and Deafness (ManCAD). ManCAD leads the UK in fundamental, translational, and applied audiology and deafness research, making substantial contributions to healthcare services nationally and internationally (including innovations like the NHS newborn hearing screening program, digital hearing aid technology, and advancements in NHS hearing services). ManCAD oversees the Hearing Health division of the NIHR Manchester Biomedical Research Centre. Our collaborators at the NIHR Manchester Biomedical Research Centre (BRC) comprise a multidisciplinary team renowned worldwide for pioneering research that enhances patient care. Their research initiatives cover prevention, diagnosis, and treatment across all age groups. This work aims to transform lives by preventing congenital hearing loss, detecting age-related hearing impairments, addressing healthcare disparities, and pioneering innovative therapies.
