The PGCE Secondary School Direct Science: Chemistry program (ages 11-16 or 11-18) equips you with both hands-on training and theoretical foundations to excel as a Chemistry educator. Unlike traditional teacher training routes, this School Direct pathway offers extended school placement opportunities prior to the PGCE commencement and features a tailored curriculum. The program primarily concentrates on the 11-16 age bracket to achieve Qualified Teacher Status (QTS), covering National Curriculum instruction and examination frameworks including GCSE, AS and A2 levels. Most of the course emphasizes developing practical teaching skills through extensive classroom experience, including placements in Primary schools and multiple Secondary institutions. You'll complete 25 weeks of school-based training across various educational settings. This experiential learning is complemented by studying contemporary educational theories, concepts, and emerging trends in pedagogy. Our partnership with Greater Manchester schools provides diverse School Direct teaching opportunities.
