The PGCE Secondary School Direct (French) program equips you with both hands-on teaching experience and academic foundations to excel as a French educator. Unlike traditional PGCE routes, this School Direct pathway offers extra preparatory time in schools before the course begins, along with a tailored curriculum. You'll specialize in teaching either 11-16, 11-18 or 14-19 age groups to achieve Qualified Teacher Status (QTS), mastering delivery of the National Curriculum and exam preparation for GCSE, AS and A2 levels. Most of the program emphasizes developing practical teaching skills through extensive classroom experience, including placements in Primary schools and multiple Secondary institutions. Over 25 weeks of the course are dedicated to immersive school placements across different educational settings. This experiential learning is complemented by studying contemporary educational theories, key concepts, and emerging trends in pedagogy.
