The MusM Music (Musicology) program provides a comprehensive master's-level education in music studies. Emphasizing theoretical frameworks, methodological approaches, and contemporary discussions in the field, along with essential research methods and presentation formats, it serves as ideal preparation for both PhD research and professional applications. Students can select specialized modules and dissertation/critical edition topics aligned with their academic interests and career goals. The curriculum covers diverse subjects and perspectives - ranging from music as cultural heritage to embodied musical practices, archival research, performance traditions, postcolonial critiques, and postmodern analyses. Seminar formats foster close faculty-student interaction, with regular opportunities to showcase personal research and obtain tailored guidance. Interactive dialogue constitutes a key component of most modules. Additionally, students may opt for a practical placement, completing at least 20 days within a 12-week period at an arts institution, cultural enterprise, or service organization to acquire hands-on professional experience.
