Our MSci Molecular Biology program allows you to earn an integrated master's degree alongside your BSc studies, providing extensive research experience crucial for pursuing a PhD or research career. You'll examine the structure and role of vital biological molecules, gaining both theoretical understanding and hands-on laboratory expertise. The curriculum explores DNA, RNA, proteins, and the molecular processes controlling cellular activity, while incorporating key elements of biochemistry, genetics, and cell biology. You'll discover how major genome initiatives have advanced our understanding of disease mechanisms and learn about genetic engineering applications in biotechnology, such as producing essential medical products like clotting factors, insulin, and vaccines. During your fourth year, you'll conduct a substantial research project in one of the University's 200+ laboratories to complete your undergraduate master's qualification. This program holds Advanced Accreditation from the Royal Society of Biology, acknowledging outstanding bioscience education that prepares future leaders and innovators in research and development.
