Our MSc in Model-based Drug Development equips students with the expertise to make data-driven decisions throughout the pharmaceutical development process. This program explores both scientific and regulatory considerations in drug evaluation, focusing particularly on mathematical modeling and simulation techniques. You'll discover why these approaches are widely recognized by industry leaders and regulatory bodies as efficient, cost-effective decision-making instruments. Hands-on practice with pharmacokinetic and pharmacodynamic datasets strengthens your modeling and simulation capabilities. The curriculum prioritizes mechanistic methods for pharmacokinetic and pharmacodynamic (PKPD) analysis and prediction, including physiologically-based pharmacokinetic (PBPK) modeling. Since this falls within the broader scope of systems biology, graduates can utilize their modeling expertise across multiple pharmaceutical research domains. Full-time participants gain from complete engagement in The University of Manchester's diverse biomedical research community, including collaboration with experts at the prestigious Centre for Applied Pharmacokinetic Research.
