This program aims to equip graduates with the technical expertise needed for cross-disciplinary roles focused on sustainable energy solutions and carbon reduction. Key objectives include: harnessing subsurface energy resources utilizing underground storage for energy implementing long-term carbon sequestration managing energy-related waste streams creating eco-friendly innovations for future energy needs The curriculum combines foundational theory with practical applications using field studies, lab work, computational methods, and interactive learning approaches including seminars, tutorials, field excursions, and collaborative projects. We prepare emerging geoscientists with essential competencies for sustainable, low-carbon energy management. Program graduates will gain comprehensive knowledge of subsurface geoscience applications, specializing in sedimentary geology, geophysics, rock behavior, fluid dynamics, and pore system development. These skills prepare students for careers across the energy industry, including petroleum geology, carbon capture, geothermal systems, nuclear waste management, and compressed gas storage. Developed in collaboration with energy sector leaders, the program benefits from guidance by an industry advisory panel representing various subsurface energy specialties.
