Power system engineering focuses on maintaining equilibrium across multiple dimensions. This includes balancing generation with demand, managing reactive power production and consumption, as well as weighing energy costs against environmental considerations and system reliability against necessary infrastructure investments. These programs will equip you with skills to measure these competing factors and enhance their equilibrium through technological innovation and advanced computational methods. In the second semester, coursework delves deeper into power system operations and infrastructure components. You'll examine topics like renewable energy integration into grids and solutions for power quality issues. The summer term features an MSc dissertation project, offering an opportunity to hone research capabilities while thoroughly investigating a subject covered in the curriculum.
