Our MSc Biochemistry program provides hands-on research training and career-ready skills in modern biochemistry, preparing you for roles in industry or academic research. Biochemistry forms the foundation of all biological sciences. While a key focus is unraveling fundamental biological mechanisms at the molecular level, the field also plays a crucial role in addressing medical challenges and developing safe pharmaceuticals. This research-intensive program employs an engaging learning approach featuring seminars, workshops, small-group tutorials, and lab placements instead of conventional lectures. Students complete two research projects along with coursework in scientific communication, experimental design, and statistics. The curriculum includes tutorials exploring Manchester's bioscience research and a bioethics workshop.
