Control Engineering is an interdisciplinary field with diverse applications in numerous industries. The Electrical & Electronic Engineering Department's Control Systems Group at the University of Manchester has offered an MSc program in Advanced Control & Systems Engineering since 1968. Designed for graduates from various scientific and engineering backgrounds, this program aims to: deliver advanced training in control and systems engineering, focusing on contemporary theoretical advancements and their real-world implementation establish a solid foundation in the fundamental principles of control system applications equip students to implement modern control methodologies across industrial sectors Participants develop comprehensive skills in designing, analyzing, and simulating control systems. Qualification Requirements

We require a good Upper Second Class Honours degree or international equivalent in an electrical and electronic engineering discipline. Candidates from other scientific disciplines are encouraged to apply, provided they can demonstrate strength in mathematics and other suitable subjects such as dynamics, signals and systems, or classical control. To progress to the second year of this course, we usually require performance at Distinction level. Students who do not meet the criteria for progression to the second year will instead graduate with the one-year Advanced Control & Systems Engineering MSc or an alternative appropriate qualification. When assessing your academic record, we take into account your grade average with particular emphasis on relevant course units and the standing of the institution where you studied your qualification.All applicants will need to demonstrate competency in English language. Applicants who do not already possess an acceptable English Language qualification will need to take a recognised test and attain the required English Language score: IELTS: at least 6.5 overall with no sub-test below 6.0. TOFEL iBT: at least 90 overall with no sub-test below 20. We do not accept 'MyBestScore'. Pearson PTE (UKVI) : at least 76 overall with no subtest below 70.
