This interdisciplinary Master's program examines how various entities have sought to establish and foster peace in regions impacted by conflict and violence, especially in the post-Cold War era. Combining insights from political science, history, anthropology, and creative disciplines, this redesigned curriculum provides students with tools to analyze conflict management, resolution, transformation, peacebuilding, and statebuilding frameworks. The program also offers critical perspectives on peace conceptualization and the execution of peace initiatives by international organizations like the UN, global financial institutions, aid agencies, NGOs, and grassroots movements in conflict zones. Key areas of focus include grassroots peace movements, debates about the characteristics of peaceful governance, and ongoing challenges in reforming global institutions.
