Philosophy explores the broadest and most essential aspects of existence - encompassing both the world around us and our own nature - along with the understanding and convictions we hold about that reality, reflected in our ideas, frameworks, and actions. The BA (Hons) in Philosophy program teaches you to formulate and defend your own responses to profound questions like: Can I be certain I'm not living in a simulated reality? What defines moral correctness? Do we truly possess free will? Is there a divine being? Is consciousness merely biological matter? While we'll examine existing perspectives on these issues and their supporting arguments, our emphasis lies in cultivating the ability to evaluate these positions critically and articulate your own reasoned viewpoints. You'll gain practical abilities such as constructing compelling, logical arguments, analyzing and challenging others' perspectives, communicating complex ideas with clarity, and navigating situations where intelligent individuals hold vastly differing opinions. These competencies prove valuable not just professionally but in daily decision-making, debates, or even when interpreting news.
