Our Joint Honours BA in Latin and Linguistics allows you to enhance your skills in an ancient language while exploring the scientific study of language - a fundamental human ability that influences both personal and worldwide interactions. The program covers diverse subjects including child language acquisition, gender differences in speech patterns, the structural organization of sounds and grammar across languages, linguistic consequences of language contact, and more. Throughout your three-year journey, you'll engage with Latin language and literature studies, with options available for both beginners and those with A-level experience. Additionally, you can choose specialized courses in areas like Ancient History, Philosophy, Art, Archaeology, and Egyptology.

General Studies is welcomed but not normally included as part of the standard offer.
If you offer Latin and Greek as two of your subjects, you will continue your study of these languages; if you have not studied these before, then you will begin your study of them.

Applicants must demonstrate a broad general education including acceptable levels of Literacy and Numeracy, equivalent to at least Grade C or 4 in GCSE/iGCSE English Language and Mathematics. GCSE/iGCSE English Literature will not be accepted in lieu of GCSE/iGCSE English Language
