The BA in French and German program is designed to: Offer a thorough foundation in French language, literature, culture, history, and linguistics, preparing you to achieve fluency for living and working in French-speaking settings. Establish a solid base in German language while allowing you to delve into German culture, linguistics, history, and literature. You'll gain the necessary competencies to excel in German-speaking contexts. For French studies, over two-thirds of our instructors are native speakers who conduct both language and most culture classes in French. Weekly instruction includes 3 to 6 hours of French grammar and conversation (available for both post-A-Level and beginner students), helping you attain near-native accuracy and fluency. These language courses complement optional modules covering French and Francophone history, politics, literature, contemporary culture, and linguistics spanning from the Early Modern era to today.
