The Manchester School of Architecture represents a dynamic partnership between The University of Manchester and Manchester Metropolitan University. Our Foundation program serves as a perfect bridge from secondary education to university studies, or as a pathway for career changers who lack the standard qualifications for direct entry into an architecture degree program. This preparatory course offers a smooth introduction to higher education, assists in building design portfolios, and explores architecture as a professional pursuit.

Students gain from the guidance of experienced professionals and educators who foster a nurturing environment to build essential skills for entering the architecture field. This foundation year readies participants for undergraduate architecture studies at our institution. We focus on enhancing both personal and academic capabilities, introducing diverse communication methods, teaching how to interpret project requirements and formulate design concepts, while offering a glimpse into architectural practice. The curriculum concludes with a design studio project that thoroughly prepares students for degree-level work. Participants will experience the full vibrancy of our school community, collaborating with peers when possible and finishing with a design project aligned with current student work.
