Our Bachelor of Arts in Arabic Studies program helps you attain near-native fluency in modern Arabic while exploring the language's cultural and historical background. Beginning with foundational skills in reading, writing, speaking, and listening, you'll progress to advanced proficiency over four years. The curriculum also examines broader aspects of Arab culture, literature, and contemporary social trends across the Middle East and other Arabic-speaking regions. With a structured approach to track your development, the program not only teaches modern Arabic but also serves as a gateway to classical Arabic literature, encompassing both religious and secular works, while offering opportunities to study regional dialects. Your third year includes study abroad at an Arab institution, enhancing language mastery through immersive cultural experiences.

  • Study abroad in Arabic-speaking countries.
  • Contact speakers of Arabic and get involved in events about Middle Eastern culture beyond the University in multicultural Manchester - from public lectures to cultural celebrations including cinema, music and food festivals.
  • Ranked 6th in the UK for Modern Languages (QS World Ranking by Subject 2025).
