The Industrial Design PhD program represents a strategic research partnership between Xi'an Jiaotong-Liverpool University and the University of Liverpool. Graduates will be awarded a University of Liverpool degree, accredited by both the UK Department for Education and China's Ministry of Education.
Participants in this program are officially enrolled as off-campus postgraduate research students at the University of Liverpool. Each PhD candidate is assigned a primary supervisor from XJTLU's full-time faculty, along with a secondary supervisor from the University of Liverpool.
The full-time doctoral journey typically spans three years of intensive research followed by one year dedicated to thesis composition, complemented by specialized training and skill development. Full-time candidates must complete their thesis within four years (extended to six years for part-time students).
