The MPlan in Town and Regional Planning prepares students for professional careers in urban, regional, and environmental planning. This program features two specialized tracks focusing on urban transformation and environmental spatial planning, addressing contemporary challenges in our rapidly evolving urban landscapes. Through interdisciplinary studies, students benefit from the combined expertise of Planning faculty alongside specialists from Geography, Sociology, and Architecture departments.

As society undergoes significant transformations in transportation, housing, and green space development, Liverpool's Planning degree equips students with both practical skills and theoretical knowledge to manage urban-rural development demands effectively.

Students gain comprehensive insights into urban development patterns while specializing in either environmental planning or urban renewal. Liverpool serves as an exceptional case study for planning education, having undergone remarkable economic, social, and environmental transformations over three decades. The university's planning department has actively participated in these changes, collaborating with local planners, developers, and communities - making the city a living laboratory for urban evolution.

This RTPI-accredited program offers a fast track into the planning profession, combining spatial and specialist planning education. From the third year, students can focus on either Spatial Planning for Environmental Change or Urban Transformation studies. The four-year structure provides deeper, practice-oriented planning knowledge than traditional one-year master's programs.
