The University has allocated more than £20 million towards cancer research, funding numerous new positions within the Department and enabling the development of the University of Liverpool Cancer Research Centre (ULCRC) facility. Our dedication to advancing cancer studies has led to the formation of the Liverpool Cancer Research UK Centre, an initiative that unites researchers, medical professionals, and community partners to conduct groundbreaking and impactful cancer research.
Liverpool excels in haemato-oncology, boasting specialized knowledge in Chronic Myeloid Leukemia (CML) and lymphoproliferative disorders. The institution provides strong clinical guidance, including leadership roles in the National Cancer Research Institute (NCRI) Haematological Oncology CSG and CML Subgroup, as well as participation in the Lymphoma CSG and subgroups for Chronic Lymphocytic Leukemia (CLL), Acute Myeloid Leukemia (AML), High-Grade Non-Hodgkin's Lymphomas (HG-NHL), and Low-Grade Non-Hodgkin's Lymphomas (LG-NHL).
Under the direction of Professor Andrew Pettitt, a comprehensive clinical and translational research program focuses on lymphoid cancers, maintaining robust partnerships with industry leaders and national research networks in lymphoma and haematological oncology.
