This degree offers a practical, immersive approach to anatomy, blending hands-on cadaveric dissection with comprehensive study of human biology across all scales, from molecular DNA to complete organ systems. The four-year Master of Anatomy & Human Biology (MBiol) begins with the three-year BSc curriculum, followed by an advanced fourth year for qualifying students.
During the initial three years, you'll explore diverse anatomical modules examining the body's six primary systems (musculoskeletal, cardiovascular, urogenital, respiratory, nervous, digestive) and six key regions (thorax, abdomen, pelvis, head & neck, and limbs). The program integrates broader subjects including physiology, disease mechanisms, genetics, developmental biology, and comparative anatomy, culminating in an independent dissection project. Specialization opportunities and personal research projects are available, with regular access to our specialized Human Anatomy Resource Centre.
The Master's year focuses on advanced research training for students pursuing academic careers (such as PhD studies) or professional advancement. Participants will collaborate with research teams on substantial projects, with options for summer research internships (domestic or international) or industry placements during the final year.
