This program allows graduates specializing in Egyptology and related fields to expand their expertise in ancient Egyptian language and material culture. The MA offers rigorous preparation for academic research while developing skills in analytical thinking and problem-solving across various contexts. A key focus is cultivating the methodologies and approaches essential for conducting scholarly investigations in this field. Our one-year program combines structured coursework (including language studies, research methods, material culture analysis, social history, and landscape archaeology) with independent research culminating in a dissertation.
Students can tailor their studies with module choices that emphasize either archaeological studies or linguistic aspects of ancient Egypt, spanning from the Predynastic era through the Coptic period.
We actively encourage MA candidates to explore the diverse course offerings within our department, enabling them to audit additional modules that complement their specific research interests and broaden their academic perspective.
