The Bachelor of Science in Game Design merges programming, artistic vision, and analytical thinking to offer a unique approach to interactive digital media. As one of the pioneering programs within the Russell Group universities, this cross-disciplinary curriculum integrates Computer Science and Arts faculty courses to provide comprehensive training in game development processes, cultural significance, and societal impact. Students will acquire expertise in software development, game studies, and innovative design through coursework spanning Communication & Media, Computer Science, English, Music, and Philosophy departments. These specialized subjects converge in dedicated Game Design courses where learners create portfolio-ready projects. The degree offers an optional industrial placement year - selecting this pathway involves spending the third academic year in paid professional employment. Participants receive ongoing support from the Computer Science Department during their placement, with reflective assessments contributing to final degree classification. Prospective students should indicate their preference for the industrial placement option by entering code YI in the UCAS application's further choices section.
