Forensic Science research students collaborate with a diverse team in the School of Chemistry while leveraging valuable industry connections. They can participate in the Forensic Analysis Research Group's initiatives, pioneering new approaches to address criminal investigations and casework challenges. Current high-impact studies involve partnerships with the UK Home Office's Centre for Applied Science and Technology. The program provides comprehensive training resources for independent research, supported by an expert supervisory team. Key research areas include chemical profiling of synthetic drugs, forensic/archaeological DNA examination, and toxicology applications in legal investigations. Research projects in the School are focused on the chemical analysis of legal highs, DNA analysis in forensic and archaeological contexts, and forensic toxicology.
