The scientific exploration of animal behavior and welfare enhances our comprehension of why animals act as they do and guides us in addressing the difficulties they encounter in both captive and natural habitats. At Lincoln, this research is shaped by leading experts in welfare evaluation, animal care, evolutionary biology, and cognitive studies, supported by specialized resources such as aquatic and reptile habitats, an insectary, and a bioacoustics lab. This MSc by Research enables students with biological backgrounds to initiate studies in Animal Behavior and Welfare. As with most postgraduate research programs, students primarily engage in self-directed learning and investigation. While they will consult with academic supervisors, meeting frequency depends on personal needs, research focus, faculty availability, and program stage.
