Students pursuing MPhil and PhD degrees have the opportunity to explore their chosen psychology topics through independent research, culminating in a comprehensive thesis under the supervision of two or three faculty experts. They may undergo specialized research methods training and are encouraged to actively participate in the School's research community. As the highest-level psychology research qualification, the PhD is ideal for aspiring academics while also opening diverse career paths. Typically, students begin as MPhil/PhD candidates before transitioning to PhD status in their second year. The School's vibrant research culture keeps faculty engaged with contemporary psychological discussions and cutting-edge advancements. Research activities are structured around three thematic groups (Forensic and Clinical Psychology, Perception, Action and Cognition, Development and Social Behavior) and two dedicated centers (Autism Research Innovation Centre and Lincoln Cleep Centre).
