The Lincoln School of Design is a vibrant community focused on tackling real-world design challenges that shape the profession's future, societal needs, and global contexts. This encompasses designing for evolving demographics, innovative production methods, and creating novel cultural encounters. Students pursuing research can investigate diverse fields such as design history and theory, socially conscious design, interior architecture, and creative design practices. Their research can take the form of traditional theses or practical projects. A tailored research skills curriculum helps students build essential capabilities for their academic journey and professional growth. Dedicated supervisors provide mentorship, assisting with funding applications, conference participation, and publication opportunities. Qualified students may have chances to participate in undergraduate teaching after completing necessary training. Typically, each research student works with two faculty supervisors specializing in their field, meeting regularly for guidance and progress reviews. The program introduces research methodologies through structured courses and promotes active participation in regular postgraduate seminars. As postgraduate research demands significant independent work, students primarily engage in self-directed study, with supervisor meetings scheduled according to individual needs, subject requirements, faculty availability, and research phase.
