The fields of Biochemistry and Molecular Biology provide insights into the fundamental chemical and biological processes that sustain life, equipping us to address critical issues in cell biology, pathology, pharmacology, physiology, and genetics. Breakthroughs in these disciplines have transformed our comprehension of molecular-level biological systems and the mechanisms governing diverse cellular activities. This knowledge allows for targeted molecular and biochemical interventions to tackle various health challenges and diseases. Our MPhil/PhD program aims to cultivate students' research capabilities by concentrating on specific investigative topics. Participants can enhance essential research competencies through the University's specialized training programs. With mentorship from PhD supervisors, students will have opportunities to deliver presentations and seminars on their work, both at the University of Lincoln and at national and international academic gatherings. Doctoral candidates will also work closely with supervisors to prepare progress reports, refine their academic writing for peer-reviewed publications, and ultimately articulate their research findings and thesis effectively. In addition to acquiring subject-specific expertise (such as molecular laboratory techniques or animal cognition studies), pursuing a research degree fosters valuable transferable skills including analytical thinking, organizational abilities, collaborative teamwork, and effective communication.
