The scientific exploration of animal behavior and welfare enhances our comprehension of why animals act as they do, while also guiding us in addressing the difficulties animals encounter in both captive and natural settings.
This program adopts an interdisciplinary, research-focused method to examine animal behavior and welfare. It seeks to equip students with the expertise and abilities required to analyze animal conduct, working with diverse species such as insects, reptiles, birds, and mammals.
The MBio curriculum features an extra year dedicated to intensive research, opening doors to advanced study and career prospects. The course is shaped by scholars recognized as pioneers in welfare evaluation, animal care, evolutionary biology, and animal intelligence. Notable experts include Professor Daniel Mills (clinical animal behavior), Professor Anna Wilkinson (animal cognition), and Professor Oliver Burman (animal welfare assessment).
