We maintain robust collaborations with the NHS, evidenced by our National Institute for Health Research Biomedical Research Centre designation with a Cardiovascular Disease focus. We excel in student education, as demonstrated by our Athena SWAN Silver Award achievement. PhD candidates conduct independent research projects with supervision, typically finishing within 3.0-3.5 years (full-time) or 6.0-6.5 years (part-time). An additional year (full-time) or seventh year (part-time) can be used for thesis preparation. The dissertation should generally not surpass 50,000 words, offering novel insights and research worthy of publication. Candidates must successfully defend their thesis in an oral examination to earn their degree.
