Our institution offers a welcoming, vibrant, and encouraging setting where students can explore Earth's geological history alongside leading experts in geoscience. Instruction is research-driven, delivered by faculty with global recognition in their specialties. Doctoral candidates undertake self-directed research projects with support from an advisory panel. Typically, this research spans 3.0-3.5 years for full-time students or 6.0-6.5 years for part-time students. An additional year (full-time) or seventh year (part-time) may be utilized for thesis preparation. The dissertation, limited to 50,000 words, must present novel findings worthy of publication. Candidates must successfully defend their work in an oral examination to earn their degree.
