Each year, we organize numerous conferences, lectures, and seminars, most of which are accessible to the general public. PhD candidates undertake an independent research project with support from a supervisory team. The maximum enrollment period before thesis submission is 4 years full-time or 7 years part-time. The active research phase (including experiments, lab work, fieldwork, and data collection) typically spans 3 to 3.5 years full-time or 6 to 6.5 years part-time. Following active research, students may apply for a writing-up period of up to one year. The combined duration of active research and writing-up must not surpass the maximum registration period. Theses should generally not exceed 80,000 words and must present original contributions to knowledge with publishable-quality work. Finally, candidates must successfully defend their thesis in a viva voce (oral) examination to earn their degree.
