We are a multidisciplinary group of criminology researchers focused on intensive study. For over three decades, we've maintained outstanding standards in education, scholarship, innovation, and professional development. Our research influences global policies. Doctoral candidates undertake self-directed research projects with support from faculty advisors. The maximum enrollment duration before submitting a thesis is 4 years for full-time students or 7 years for part-time students. The active research phase (encompassing experiments, lab work, fieldwork, and data gathering) typically spans 3-3.5 years full-time or 6-6.5 years part-time. After completing research, students may apply for a writing-up extension of up to one year. The combined research and writing phases cannot surpass the total registration limit. Theses should generally stay within 80,000 words and must offer novel insights while meeting publication standards. Final degree conferral requires successful defense of the thesis in an oral examination.
