The Department of Chemistry has gained worldwide recognition for its pioneering studies in biological chemistry, environmentally friendly chemistry, atmospheric science, and laser spectroscopy techniques. Our institution provides PhD and MPhil research opportunities aligned with faculty expertise, covering specialized fields such as: Spectroscopy and Molecular Dynamics, Atmospheric Chemistry Studies, Biological Chemistry Applications, Advanced Materials Research, and Sustainable Chemical Processes. Doctoral candidates undertake self-directed research projects with expert supervision, typically spanning 3-3.5 years for full-time students or 6-6.5 years for part-time scholars. An additional year (or remaining portion) may be utilized for thesis preparation. The doctoral dissertation, capped at 50,000 words, must demonstrate novel scholarly contributions and include research worthy of publication. Final degree conferral requires successful defense of the thesis during an oral examination (viva voce).
