The Department of Chemistry has gained worldwide recognition for its pioneering studies in biological chemistry, sustainable chemistry, atmospheric science, and laser spectroscopy. Our institution provides PhD and MPhil programs aligned with faculty expertise across diverse fields such as: Spectroscopy, Dynamics and Atmospheric Chemistry, Chemical Biology, Materials Science and Interfaces, as well as Sustainable Synthesis and Catalysis. Doctoral candidates undertake independent research projects mentored by an advisory team, typically spanning 3.0-3.5 years for full-time students or 6.0-6.5 years for part-time scholars. An additional year (or remaining portion) may be utilized for thesis preparation. The dissertation, capped at 50,000 words, must demonstrate original scholarly contributions and include publishable research. Final degree conferral requires successful defense of the thesis during an oral examination.
