The Department of Chemistry has gained global recognition for its pioneering work in biological chemistry, sustainable chemistry, atmospheric studies, and laser spectroscopy. Our institution provides PhD and MPhil programs aligned with faculty expertise, covering Spectroscopy, Dynamics and Atmospheric Chemistry, Chemical Biology, Materials and Interfaces, as well as Sustainable Synthesis and Catalysis. Doctoral candidates undertake independent research projects supervised by expert teams, typically spanning 3.0-3.5 years (full-time) or 6.0-6.5 years (part-time). An additional year (or remaining period) may be allocated for thesis preparation. The final dissertation, limited to 50,000 words, must present novel findings and research worthy of publication. Candidates must successfully defend their thesis in an oral examination to earn their degree.
