The Department of Health Sciences focuses on advancing public health through world-class research and education, examining health determinants, policy interventions, and methodological innovations. Our expertise spans epidemiology, medical statistics, public health, primary care, health services research, and psychiatry. PhD candidates undertake independent research projects supervised by faculty, typically completed within 3-3.5 years (full-time) or 6-6.5 years (part-time). An additional year (or remaining portion) may be used for thesis preparation. The dissertation, limited to 50,000 words, must offer original insights and meet publishable standards. Final degree conferral requires successful defense during an oral examination.
