The Department of Health Sciences focuses on advancing population health through world-class research and education, examining health determinants, policy interventions, and methodological innovations. Our expertise spans epidemiology, medical statistics, public health, primary care, health services research, and psychiatry. PhD candidates undertake independent research projects supervised by faculty teams, typically completed within 3-3.5 years full-time or 6-6.5 years part-time. An additional year (or remaining portion) may be used for thesis preparation. The dissertation, limited to 50,000 words, must offer novel insights and meet publication standards, followed by a viva voce examination for degree conferral.
