The University of Leicester School of Business serves as an international hub for developing future leaders, innovators, and agents of change. With more than nine decades of excellence in business education, we're globally recognized for our programs in accounting, finance, management, marketing, and economics. Our collaborative research with industry leaders to advance ethical business practices has earned us a position as the UK's 14th strongest research institution. Doctoral candidates undertake self-directed research projects with faculty supervision, with a maximum enrollment period of four years for full-time students. Typically, hands-on research activities (including experiments, lab work, field studies, and data gathering) span 3 to 3.5 years. Following this phase, students may apply for a 12-month writing period, provided the combined research and writing time doesn't surpass the four-year limit. Theses are generally capped at 80,000 words and must demonstrate original scholarly contributions with publishable findings. Final degree conferral requires successful defense of the dissertation in an oral examination.
