The NHS relies on skilled nurses who collaborate in teams requiring strong leadership. As the sole UK university providing a pre-registration nursing degree with built-in leadership training, our distinctive programs leverage over four decades of health education expertise at the University of Leicester. We collaborate closely with University Hospitals of Leicester NHS Trust (UHL) and Leicestershire Partnership NHS Trust (LPT), while also incorporating insights from our School of Business. The program's four specialized leadership modules help cultivate your personal leadership capabilities. During these modules, you'll create a professional leadership portfolio to support your accelerated career growth. The curriculum prepares you for clinical practice by emphasizing essential lifelong learning skills, including interview techniques, presentation abilities, and numerical competency. You'll train alongside fellow healthcare students in our cutting-edge facilities, featuring an advanced Clinical Skills Unit with high-fidelity simulation mannequins for safe procedure practice. Unique learning opportunities include lectures in Leicester Medical School's anatomy lab. Hands-on experience forms a crucial component of your education, with nursing placements accounting for over half your study time. Working with seasoned nurses and multidisciplinary teams during these clinical rotations, you'll develop the compassionate professionalism needed across diverse healthcare settings.
