As a Physics with Space Science student, you'll gain a deep understanding of modern physics principles and learn to apply mathematical, computational, and experimental techniques to solve real-world challenges, while developing expertise in space science. Our Physics curriculum follows the Institute of Physics (IOP) core syllabus, covering essential topics like classical mechanics, electromagnetic theory, wave phenomena, special relativity, thermodynamics, and quantum physics. The Space Science specialization allows you to explore these fundamental concepts while engaging in specialized space research projects. You'll benefit from our position as home to one of Europe's largest academic space research facilities, with coursework directly tied to our active projects - including contributions to the BepiColombo Mercury mission and instrumentation development for groundbreaking satellites like the international Swift observatory, which studies the universe's most energetic cosmic events.
