Our Physics program ensures all students master essential physics and mathematics fundamentals, aligned with the Institute of Physics (IOP) core curriculum. The coursework covers classical mechanics, electromagnetic theory, wave phenomena, special relativity, thermodynamics, and quantum/atomic physics. Opting for the Physics MPhys degree provides the broadest selection of specialized electives each year. At Leicester, physics students develop a deep understanding of contemporary physics' breadth and significance, along with mathematical, computational, and experimental problem-solving skills. The curriculum explores foundational physics theories spanning classical mechanics, field theory, relativity, and particle physics. Through elective courses and research projects, students can investigate cutting-edge physics domains connected to the School's renowned research - including planetary science, climate physics, nanotechnology, astrophysics, medical physics, and space science.
