Our Physics program ensures all students master essential physics and mathematics fundamentals, aligned with the Institute of Physics (IOP) core curriculum. The coursework covers foundational topics like classical mechanics, electromagnetic theory, wave phenomena, special relativity, thermodynamics, and quantum physics. Opting for the Physics BSc degree provides the broadest selection of specialized electives each year. At Leicester, physics students develop a deep understanding of contemporary physics' breadth and significance, along with practical skills in mathematical modeling, computational analysis, and experimental techniques for solving complex challenges. The curriculum explores physics' theoretical foundations, spanning from classical dynamics and field theory to modern concepts in relativity and particle physics. Through elective modules and research projects, students can investigate cutting-edge physics domains connected to the School's pioneering research - including planetary studies, climate science, nanoscale physics, astrophysics, biomedical physics, and space exploration.
