As a Physics with Space Science student, you'll gain a deep understanding of modern physics and its applications, mastering mathematical, computational, and experimental techniques to address real-world challenges while developing expertise in space science. Our Physics program shares a common foundation across all students, covering essential physics and mathematics aligned with the Institute of Physics (IOP) core curriculum. This foundation encompasses classical mechanics, wave phenomena, electromagnetic theory, special relativity, thermodynamics, and quantum physics. Opting for the Space Science specialization allows you to explore these fundamentals while engaging with specialized space science coursework and participating in cutting-edge research projects. Our institution boasts one of Europe's most extensive on-campus space research facilities, and your space science and technology curriculum will directly reflect our active research programs. These include significant contributions to the BepiColombo Mercury mission and the development of advanced detectors for satellites such as the groundbreaking US-UK-Italian collaborative project 'Swift', an extraordinary observatory dedicated to investigating the universe's most energetic cosmic events.
